An Open-Air Pavilion
Framing Mountain Views and Light

YARDCOM created an outdoor pavilion for the terrace of SAOTA’s Cape Town studio, bringing a sense of openness and natural ease to the space. Inspired by the semi-private pavilion jointly presented by YARDCOM and SAOTA at Salone del Mobile.Milano 2026, the design extends their shared exploration of spatial flow and everyday living into a terrace setting in Cape Town.

Viewed from the meeting room, the pavilion sits at the center of the terrace, with Table Mountain rising into view beyond it. Its dramatic rock face defines Cape Town’s distinctive skyline, providing a striking natural backdrop to the setting. Overhead slats and side screens shape a semi-open space that balances a sense of enclosure with openness to the surroundings, making the terrace an inviting place for informal conversations and moments of relaxation.
