Forma Lenta takes its time—and takes time to unfold.
Presented at Milan Design Week, the series brings together OKHA Design Studio and YARDCOM in a collaboration rooted not in trends or novelty, but in a shared passion for the slow, immersive pleasure of making. The work unfolds through proportion, articulation, rhythm, and flow. Every detail feels considered. Designed for both indoor and outdoor settings, the collection feels lived-in and soothing, connecting past and present.
The pieces possess an effortless sense of poise. The longer one looks, the deeper the sense of communication and connection becomes. The influence of Carlo Scarpa is unmistakable, expressed not as homage but as temperament. Attention settles on junctions, edges, and the precise moments where one surface yields to another. The work holds space and lingers within it, at ease with stillness.
Transition is where the collection finds its rhythm. A cut or shift in form catches the light; a change in scale alters how the body moves around an object. These moments remain subtly open and full of possibility, allowing shadows to sculpt the forms and the work to breathe.
Forma Lenta is an exercise in composed construction, balancing material weight with the poetry of discord and harmony. Each design decision leads calmly to the next. Adam Court
Adam Court joined OKHA as Creative Director in 2007 and has been a galvanising force in the South African design industry. Since joining OKHA 16 years ago, Adam has pushed the studio to produce ground-breaking pieces that are often ahead of their time, propelling OKHA to be a pioneering voice for African furniture design, with its forward looking design collection and limited series editions now represented from New York to Dubai.
